Hey everybody, I said I'd let you know one way or the other about the BackerKit surveys. So, obviously I didn't get them done before I went to Atlanta, and that's because I didn't go to Atlanta. Phil and I are both sick, so I've been sleeping a lot instead. I'm still working on the surveys, but I'm slow. I expect to be ready with them this week. I just wanted to drop a note! Thanks-- Kaja
The Surveys are ALMOST Ready, but Not Quite, and the Books are Finally Here

Hey everybody!
The Surveys are taking longer than I planned, we’ve had a couple of emergencies and the Holidays slowed me down hard. I wanted to wait to post until I had the surveys all ready, (they are almost ready) but I can’t wait, I want to let you know where we are with the campaign:
The books have finally arrived! They look fantastic. The new printer is wonderful. I am putting the final tweaks on the BackerKit survey, and it still needs to be looked over by the BackerKit experts, to make sure I did it right. Postage has, once again, gone up, so I’ve had to make all kinds of guesses and tweaks to the behind the scenes tables. Such fun.
I’ll be in Atlanta this weekend, as a guest at the Georgia Filk Convention (GAFilk), so I’m a little nervous about sending the surveys out and then skipping town…if something doesn’t work right I’ll come back to a lot of shouting, and that’s never good. SO, I’ll try to get the surveys out before I leave, but if it’s looking like I won’t have good contact with my helpers while I’m away, I might leave it until I get home. I’ll let you know here either way.
The current plan is to ship the books and flat things ahead of the medals and pointy things, so that we get the books to you as soon as we can. We’re still building the Envelopes of Madness, and hope to have them ready when the survey responses start coming in.
One other PDF related thing: I noticed that I promised you all a PDF of the Weasel Queen and Cinderella stories, but didn’t get those prepped and released along with the main book. I’ll be getting those put together and out after I get the BackerKit work done. They’re actually going to be part of a larger volume that includes a whole bunch of our extra stories, and–since you’ve all been so wonderful and I’ve been so slow–I’m planning to build the PDF so that you get the Weasel Queen and Cinderella version first, and then later be able to download the full volume of extras. We’re really hoping to have that book of extra stories in print by the Summer shows, but…yeah…we’ll see.

Just a Status Update–Books printed and on the way!

Hello everyone!
As you see, we are shipping later than we hoped. I’m very sorry about that. Things, as usual, have got behind. Still, the books are on their way, and the samples I’ve seen look great. They were printed in South Korea this time, so they’ll take a few more weeks to get here.
In the meantime, I’m finishing up my part of the BackerKit setup. I hope to have the surveys out late this week or early next week, I’ll post again when the survey links have gone out so you know to check your email for them. They’ll go to the email box that you use for Kickstarter.
We’ll be shipping straight from our Studio this time around. It has been quite a while since we did our own shipping on this scale, so we’ve been reorganizing the packing room and getting it ready. Things had gone downhill in there, so it’s a lot of work. Still, it’s been fun seeing just how much bubble wrap we have squirreled away. (A lot.)

PDFs are Ready!

Hello everyone--
Work on campaign fulfillment is underway. The book is at the printer, and I’m working on collecting all the extras. We’re also clearing the shipping space we used to use back when we ran our own online store. So all your rewards will be coming straight from us this time around.
Today I’m doing the PDF fulfillment! I’ve got the PDF all sorted out, uploaded it to DriveThruComics, and sent a test batch to make sure the download works. SO:
I’m now going to begin sending out emails with the download links for the Girl Genius volume 18, Queens and Pirates PDF!
This time, as a surprise, I’m also including a free download link for the Girl Genius Secret Blueprints PDF.
HOW IT WORKS:
The message will be sent to the email address you used for this Kickstarter campaign.
As with our past Kickstarters, the link in the email will take you to DriveThruComics, where the title will be entered into your shopping cart with the price set to zero. Just finish checkout, and, when you get to the page that says: “Your Order is Complete” be sure to click the “download,” or “DropBox” link to the right of the page. If you click on the book title itself, it will take you to info page in the catalog, which has tripped people up once or twice.
THE BACKERKIT SURVEYS
They aren’t ready yet. I know. It’s the next thing I finish, but I wanted to get the PDF to you as soon as possible. But don’t worry, you haven’t missed it or anything, I’ll make a big announcement when they’re live.
Not related to the Kickstarter, but still maybe interesting:
The fourth Girl Genius prose novel is due to come out from Night Shade Books in Spring of 2020. It’s all turned in, and the editor has sent us a document with suggested corrections.
Also, Girl Genius GURPS is becoming a reality! That’s Steve Jackson’s Generic Universal Role Playing System for those who might not know. We’ve looked over their manuscript and added a bunch of our own stuff, and now it’s almost ready to send back to SJG. We are very excited about it.
